King Me Food Pharmacy
The Soul-Infused Kook Book
Authentic Black Culinary Heritage Reimagined for Healing from the Root
Curated by The King Me Foundation · Hospital to Home / Kommunity Projekt
"We didn't just cook to eat; we cooked to survive, to remember, and to love. Now, we cook to heal."
♛ This Book Is Your Legacy
For Jordan Superman Taylor and Joi DP Taylor — my ventricle and my lung.
Jordan, you grew up with the smell of my kitchen—that deep, smoky, seasoned air that meant love was on the stove. Joi, you've known the struggle of being at the table but feeling like the food wasn't for you anymore. I wrote this for both of you, and for every Black family that has been told they have to choose between their culture and their health.
We are not choosing. We are reclaiming. These recipes are the soul of our people—the collards, the yams, the smothered chicken—rebuilt with the same 'flavor' but with the 'medicine' your bodies need. We're going back to the farm, back to the cast iron, and back to the healing power of our roots.
Jordan, your strength is in every skillet. Joi, your healing is in every bite. — Mommy

🩺 The Healing Pharmacy
🔴 Gastrointestinal & Gut
Inflammation in the gut needs 'soft' soul. Okra's mucilage coats the lining, while slow-cooked yams provide the fiber to keep things moving without the irritation.
🔵 Chronic Pain & Fibro
Pain is driven by inflammation. We use the 'Smoked' flavor from paprika and turkey to provide capsaicin and minerals that quiet the pain pathways in the nerves.
🟢 Chronic Migraines
Migraines need magnesium and steady sugar. Black-eyed peas and pumpkin seeds are our 'luck' and our medicine, keeping blood vessels relaxed.
🟣 Lupus & Autoimmune
The body is attacking itself. We fight back with coastal 'Gullah' flavors—Omega-3 rich fish and the 'Golden Soul' of turmeric to modulate the immune system.
🟡 I.C. & Pelvic Floor
The bladder needs alkaline, non-acidic soul. We swap the vinegar for fresh herbs and lemon zest, keeping the flavor bright but the bladder calm.
