Jordan, you grew up with the smell of my kitchen—that deep, smoky, seasoned air that meant love was on the stove. Joi, you've known the struggle of being at the table but feeling like the food wasn't for you anymore. I wrote this for both of you, and for every Black family that has been told they have to choose between their culture and their health.

We are not choosing. We are reclaiming. These recipes are the soul of our people—the collards, the yams, the smothered chicken—rebuilt with the same 'flavor' but with the 'medicine' your bodies need. We're going back to the farm, back to the cast iron, and back to the healing power of our roots.
